The Picket Piece Village Hall Patio Project

The Vision
Our Village Hall has long been the crown jewel of Picket Piece – a beautiful, modern space where we celebrate, meet, and connect. However, for too long, that vibrant energy has stopped at the back door.
The Current Challenge
Right now, our existing grass area is uneven, often muddy, and incredibly difficult to maintain. Most importantly, it creates a physical barrier. For neighbours using wheelchairs, those with limited mobility, or parents navigating heavy double-buggies, the garden is currently “off-limits.” It’s a missed opportunity for our community to enjoy the fresh air in a safe, comfortable setting.
The Proposed Transformation
We aren’t just laying paving stones; we are creating a new heart for the village. Our plan is to replace that patchy, unmanaged ground with a high-quality, expansive, and perfectly level patio.
Why This Project Matters
A Space for Everyone
Whether you are a parent with a buggy, a wheelchair user, or just looking for a stable place to sit, our new patio removes the barriers. By creating a smooth, level surface, we ensure the garden is truly inclusive for the first time.
Sustainable Foundations
We aren’t just building for today; we’re building for the future. Our plan includes five new octagonal picnic tables made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. They are guaranteed for 25 years, won’t rot, and represent our commitment to a greener Picket Piece.
Safety First
By installing a dedicated divide, we are clearly separating our community seating from the car park. We are also creating a direct, paved link from the Hall 1 fire exit, ensuring a safe and seamless flow for event hirers and families alike.
Community Life, Outdoors
From summer social club drinks and birthday parties to a quiet spot for a picnic while the kids play in the garden, this patio belongs to you. It will be open for the whole community to use whenever the hall is not in private use.
We Need Your “Yes!”
We have already secured the majority of the support needed to make this a reality. Now, we just need to prove to Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC) that our community wants this project. To unlock the final grant, we need endorsements from local residents.
It takes less than 60 seconds to support us. Your signature doesn’t cost a penny, but it is the key to unlocking this new facility for our village.
